"Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town“ von Stephen Leacock ist das weltweit am längsten ausgeliehene Buch. Die Kanadierin Eve Lettice fand das Buch 1998 beim Aufräumen ihres Dachbodens. Ein früherer Mieter hatte es wohl schon 1916 aus der örtlichen Bücherei ausgeliehen. Nach 82 Jahren brachte Mrs. Lettice das Buch pflichtbewusst zurück. Die angefallenen Gebühren von 7200 Kanadischen Dollar musste sie zum Glück nicht bezahlen.

A former tenant had probably borrowed it from the local library back in 1916. After 82 years, Mrs. Lettice dutifully returned the book. Fortunately, she did not have to pay the fees of 7200 Canadian dollars.
